Through VoIP, voice is converted into a digital signal, divided into data packets and sent over the network. When reaching their destination, the data packets are reassembled and become understandable for the receiver. In this way, the Internet replaces traditional copper or fiber optic cables. The subscriber will need a specific device to make possible the conversion from the digital to the sound signal. It can be a computer, an adapter for the telephone they already have or a new type of phone. The specific hardware devices, such as routers, IP phones and telephone adapters (ATA) make the telephone service independent from the computer and can be also accessed via the traditional analog cordless or mobile phone.

By choosing the service ConVoIP our customers can keep their old home phone number, given to them by Telecom Italia, if they still reside in the same geographic area. If they fill in the provided form, their number can continue to appear in the phone directory. This service is free of charge.
