Convergenze Has Completed a Ring Wireless Network

Convergenze S.p.A. is very pleased to inform that we have completed the installation of a wireless network that connects the following PoP: Capaccio, Trentinara, Stio, Magliano Vetere, Passo della Sentinella, Sala Consilina, Teggiano, Prato Perillo, Caggiano, Scorzo-Sicignano, Serre, Monte Doglie and Capaccio.

A ring of 180 Km in diameter, made in technology HiperLAN 2 operating between 5.4 and 5.7GHz, has been completed. This infrastructure, which has been expanded and adapted over time to provide connectivity services to our 1,400 subscribers of wireless services, has been paid for in its entirety with the cash flow generated by our current operating activities.

This ring converges with the one that links the territories of Alburni and Cilento, strengthening it greatly. 

Now, we are looking forward to fulfill the following objectives:

  • Territorial growth in the provinces of Avellino and Potenza
  • Implementation of 802.11n on the Standard Backbone, then on to the residences of the end customers
  • New fiber connectivity in our datacenter, with a target bandwidth of 622Mbps by the end of 2008
  • Purchasing a local telephone operator's license
  • Direct interconnection with Telecom Italia to terminate calls originating from VoIP
