Convergenze S.p.A.: A New Technology to Surf The Internet At a Speed Four Times Higher Than Telecom Italia's
The Internet and phone provider, Convergenze S.p.A., based in Capaccio Paestum, has announced the installation of DSLAM ADSL2+ technology in the Telecom local exchanges in the towns of Paestum-Licinella and Agropoli. This new technology will allow Internet speed four times higher than the current technology allows Telecom Italia. In addition, the scalability of speed is provided by fiber optic connections installed in July, which connect the towns of Capaccio Scalo with Paestum-Licinella and Agropoli. The length of the fiber optic cables laid by Convergenze S.p.A. is now 50 km.
After the commercial launch of ADSL 20Mbps for residential and small business customers, which took place exactly one year ago, the company chaired by Ing. Rosario Pingaro equipped its backbone with the new OTN (Optical Transport Network) technology, which scales and flexiblizes fiber-optic links that Convergenze has implemented, and will continue to implement in the coming months. In February, for the first time in its history, Convergenze activated an access point outside the Italian territory, specifically the PoP in Holland, the AMS-IX (Amsterdam Internet eXchange), to interconnect the network of the Italian operator to the main Content Providers worldwide, Yahoo, Facebook, Google, YouTube and Microsoft, improving in the quality of Internet bandwidth toward those.
A set of modern technologies and innovations that, aside from high speed Internet, make the traditional telephony services extremely affordable, almost as affordable as the VoIP service.
The two Internet connection plans offered by Convergenze are, 10Mbps / 512kbps at 20,00 € per month, VAT included, and 20Mbps / 1Mbps at 25.00 € per month, VAT included.
